It is estimated that there were 543,100 people living with HIV (PLHIV) in Indonesia in 2020, with the majority of them in the productive age between 15-49 years old. With a large proportion of PLHIV in productive age and considering the impacts of the pandemic against their livelihood and persistent discrimination in the workplace, it is crucial to include PLHIV and key populations in all national efforts for economic recovery and to eliminate HIV-related discrimination at the workplace.
Responding to this situation, UNAIDS collaborated with Yayasan Kusuma Buana (YKB) and Jaringan Indonesia Positif (JIP) to implement two interventions to mitigate the socio-economic impacts of the pandemic against PLHIV and key populations. These two interventions are the following:
